Brake service covers inspection and replacement of pads, rotors, calipers, hoses, and brake fluid. Many imports also use brake-wear sensors and electronic parking brakes that have to be retracted and reset with a scan tool, so brake jobs on these cars are not the same as on a domestic.
Brakes are the one system you never want to find out failed. Worn pads chew up rotors. Old fluid absorbs water and lowers the boiling point. A skipped sensor or parking-brake relearn leaves a warning light on. Done correctly, the brakes are quiet, stop evenly, and the dash stays clear.
Have your brakes checked when you hear squealing or grinding, feel a pulsation in the pedal, notice the car pulling when you stop, see a brake warning light, or simply cannot remember the last time the fluid was changed.
